Clear lines and white cubes - the new trend in living is simpler. Architecture shows itself clearer and geometric. Windows and entrance doors become an integral part of the design.
Compared to the colonial or traditional style, there is less attention to colours, details and decorations in minimalism. Both the interior and exterior follow a more clear line and are reduced to the basic. With a sensory overload through social media, smartphones and advertisements in our daily lives, we long for peace and clarity when coming home. But even in minimalism it is important not to forget to infuse it with your own style.
Large glass surfaces and and smooth facades
Simple and clean architecture is the main feature. Large window systems are used deliberately to extend the living space outward. Here innovative and high-quality windows give you the option to use oversized window fronts and lift and slide patio systems without impacting the energy efficiency of your home. Expansive living spaces are considered a luxury these days, however with the targeted use of glass you can at least create an expended illusion.
The entrance door becomes a design element
Clear form, simple colours like black, white or grey and the use of high-quality materials are also a popular option with entrance doors. However some other important factors to consider when finding the right door are security, energy efficiency and sound insulation. As with interior doors the trend is more towards smooth, full doors with a bigger sidelight. A frameless side especially, integrates nicely into the facade of the house while underlining the clearness of the architecture.
Finding your own style
At first sight these guidelines may seem strict, it is still important to find and express your own individuality. Although simple colours like beige, grey, white or black may be the front runners when it comes to simpler design, there is nothing that speaks against adding individual colour accents. The same goes for adding furniture. You want to keep clarity and openness throughout the space but does not mean you have to forgo the use of decorative pieces.
The only rule to remember is: Less is more.
Good ventilation in your home is good for both your house and your health both during summer and winter. It doesn’t hurt to have the right technique for the best effect. So here are three tips to air out your home effectively.
1. Did you know that a 3 person household can collect up to 10 Litres of humidity. To remove humidity it’s recommended to air out your home at least 3 times per day. You should ventilate your bedroom right after waking up in the morning. This will help remove humidity that has collected over night in your air, furniture and walls. Also don’t forget to ventilate after a shower, bath, cooking or washing your floors.
2. Keep your doors to cooler rooms like your basement closed. This way you avoid warm and humid air from settling down on cold walls and windows and creating mildew.
3. The most effective way to air out your home is to open windows on opposing ends of your house to create a draft and let the air move easily through your entire home. In the winter time 5 minutes three times a day is enough.
When building a new home or renovating an existing space, we typically don’t give too much thought to interior doors. For most people, access from one room to the next, sound reduction and privacy is the extent of their importance, so style, colour and overall aesthetics tend to be limited.
At HELT, we want to challenge that perception. We create exquisite doors that are as individualistic as you are. They can add character to your space by enhancing it’s existing surroundings or they can stand out as it’s own masterpiece. The choice is truly yours.
HELT offers three finishes for your interior door:
Lacquer - These doors are truly customizable. They come in all colours of the rainbow and can have specific details engraved inside the wood. Imagine custom milled lines that make a white door pop, or your children’s names outside of their bedroom door. And what about something more luxurious that’ll make you the envy of all your friends? We can embed Swarovski stones right onto these doors.
CPL – This is a laminated finish similar to what you would find on floors and kitchen worktop surfaces, and are suitable in areas that would experience a higher amount of wear. Choose from beautiful wood finishes like Oak, Maple or Walnut, with either a vertical or cross look
Real Wood Veneer - If you like to surround yourself with high quality natural materials, this would be the choice for you. These doors are perfect for allergy sufferers or for those that have their health in mind. They are not electrostaticly charged which means that they do not attract allergens such as dust.
Our doors are supreme quality. While North American doors are typically hallow, we use either tubular chipboard or solid chipboard to increase stability to the door slab and reduce travel sound from one room to the next.
For additional prevention of sound waves and air between the door and floor, we recommend the use of our integrated drop seal.
In North America, it is normal practice for doors to blend in with the room by surrounding it with trim that matches the baseboards of the home. At HELT, we do something truly unique that helps our doors stand out… they come with their own trims and frames. Choose an endless option of frames and trims to make your door really beautiful.
At HELT, your door is as individual as you are. So let your imagination run wile as you scroll through our catalogue. We’ll help you add character to any space in your home by designing an interior door for YOU.
These days entrance doors have to fulfill many different functions: give warmth, act as sound barriers, protect from intruders and look appealing optically, since entrance doors are the business card to your home. Vinyl is a great material that can be used to building entrance doors that encompass all options mentioned above. Thanks to advanced technology they can be produced at a lower cost while still be compatible with Wood and Aluminium Doors.
Over the years Vinyl has developed a bad reputation in the window and door industry. Understandably so this happened due to the fact that manufacturers tried to skim on the material cost as much as possible by creating thinner and thinner frames.
At HELT we don’t like to take shortcuts. Rather we believe the high quality and strength of our product will speak for itself. The vinyl frames of our entrance doors are steel reinforced and are divided to up to six chambers for maximum energy efficiency.
Although Glass is a very popular option for entrance doors, at HELT we offer a variate of decorative insert panels that are fully insulated to keep your home warm while also giving options for design.
All our entrance doors are custom build to your requirements.
Steel reinforcement throughout the frame is only one of the many security features in our vinyl entrance doors. Each door comes standard with a multi point locking system and secure, adjustable hinges. Some other options for your safety that HELT offers are keypads, peep holes and electric openers.
Your door should be as unique and individual as you are. That’s why we at HELT are proud to offer different finishes for your entrance door. Select from several colour finishes in either matte or shine or go classic and finish your door in a natural wood grain finish. It’s your choice.
